Talisman Pouch

Some things are made to be looked at; this one looks back. At its centre a single eye opens through rings of navy, sky blue and black, steady as a lighthouse, set on a field of cream. Call it a watchman for the bottom of your bag, the place where keys, cards, a lipstick and a folded receipt usually lose each other. The crochet is dense and holds its square shape, the zip runs clean along the top, and a white tassel with a black bead hangs from the pull. Crocheted by hand as a single square, by women artisans in Anatolia.
