From across a room it reads olive. Come closer and the grid opens into suns: green at the heart, a ring of deep maroon, gold spreading outwards to small white tips, as if each square had been caught at the moment it decided to bloom. The bag slouches into a soft hobo curve on a single strap, the open V top easy to reach into on a crowded platform. Wear it across the body with a trench coat in autumn or off one shoulder over linen in August. The organic cotton blend has body without stiffness. The squares are crocheted one by one by women artisans, and the grid keeps the faint unevenness of the hand.
