Bonfire Scarf

Bonfires look like this from a distance: a line of small suns burning against the dark. Each black square holds a sunburst ringing out from a deep blue centre through yellow, red, green and magenta, and a bright orange border runs the full length like the glow at the edge of a flame. Long and narrow, one square wide, it wraps once with ends to spare. Throw this scarf over a black coat or a denim jacket on a cold night and it does the work of a lantern. Crocheted by hand in blocks, the colour catching differently in each like the edge of a fire.
