Saffron Scarf

Strung like beads, the suns run the length of this scarf: turquoise and green eyes ringed in orange, red and yellow, set into black and bound all round in bright gold. It reads from across a room, graphic and warm, the sort of thing a stranger stops you to ask about. The crochet is dense, made for real winter days, and long enough to wind twice or let hang loose over a coat. Gold edges make it feel finished, almost ceremonial, against dark wool. Worked one square at a time by hand, then joined into a single narrow length.
