Vivid Bucket Hat

Something is always turning on this hat. At the centre of each square a sunburst flower spins out from a yellow core, through red, pink, orange and mint, with flashes of turquoise caught between, all set into deep purple like jewels into velvet. A pale cream edge softens the short downturned brim, so the bucket shape sits low and easy rather than loud. Wear it with a white tee and old jeans and let it carry the colour for you. Crocheted in squares by women artisans, the pattern shifts slightly as it wraps the crown.
