Masquerade Beanie

A masked ball, held in a small hat. Black frames every panel like the edge of a mask, and inside it pink, mint, marigold and lilac glow from their centres, playful, a little theatrical, full of costume and candlelight. The black keeps it sharp; the colour keeps it from ever being serious. Wear this beanie to the late show, the winter market, the long walk back. The crochet is tight and warm, topped with a small black pom-pom and finished with a ribbed brim that turns up. Each square is made by hand, which is why no two sit in quite the same colour order.
