Balaclava – Cream & Burgundy

Like a quilt passed down a family, burgundy and cream trade places block by block. The rhythm is simple and steady, red then pale then red, and it gives the hood a homely gravity, something you might find folded at the foot of a bed. Worn, this balaclava is close and practical: it pulls straight on, sits down over the neck, and frames the face with a rounded cream border. Open squares give it weight without ever feeling solid, so it breathes under a coat. Crocheted by women artisans, the squares are then joined edge to edge by hand.
