Balaclava – Dusty Pink

Dusty pink is a colour with a past: faded roses, old ballet slippers, the inside of a shell. Here it alternates with cream around the hood, each square ringed in rose so the colour gathers toward the face like a blush. Soft rather than sweet. This balaclava belongs to winter mornings that start dark, the walk to the station, the café with fogged windows. The crochet sits snug over the head and neck, finished with a solid rose edge that keeps the rounded opening neat. Worked by hand in separate squares, so the pattern wanders a little as it goes round.
