Solstice Vest

Berries and holly leaves against a pale winter sky: that is the feeling of red and green on cream. Each square keeps its own small world, a flower or a wheel, and across the back a large concentric medallion turns slowly outward, like the year itself turning. This is a vest for the shortest days, layered over a white tee or a long-sleeve top and left open. The crochet is dense and warm, traced by a dark stitched edge around the opening and armholes. Worked by hand, the motifs line up near enough, never with a ruler's precision.
