Corona Bucket Hat

Night comes first here, then the suns. Black holds the whole bucket hat, and out of it rise sunbursts in turquoise and sky blue around a golden core, as though the dark had been waiting for them. That is the quiet trick of black: it makes every colour look chosen. A thin line of pink at the brim is the one soft word in a bold sentence. The crochet is dense, so it sits snug and warm on a cool bright morning, with denim and an old knit. Crocheted by hand, the sunbursts open each to their own width.
