Balaclava – Black & Gold

Black and gold have long been the colours of night-time ceremony: candlelight on lacquer, brass on a dark door. In this balaclava the gold traces each square in concentric outlines, and when you turn your head they catch the streetlight and flash. In a dim room it reads almost solid. Outside, it comes alive. It covers crown, cheeks and neck in one dense piece, warm without bulk, framed with a clean black edge at the face. Wear it with a long dark coat and very little else. Worked by hand, square by square, so each gold motif settles its own way.
